Sarasota Memorial Hospital has become the community leader in Breast Health, with SMH Radiology Associates at the forefront of imaging and diagnosis. With a multidisciplinary approach among radiologists, surgeons and oncologists, our facilities are geared towards patient comfort and efficiency. All locations that perform state-of-the-art digital mammography are FDA approved, have met all inspections by the American College of Radiology and are certified under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). Our radiologists are Board Certified, exceeding the requirements for interpretation of mammography.

Screening mammography is provided at the Bahia Vista, University Parkway and Blackburn Point Outpatient Centers. Limited screening mammography appointments are also available at the Waldemere Medical Plaza. Waldemere Medical Plaza is our diagnostic breast center. Patients with an abnormality on a screening mammogram and those with a palpable lump or clinical concern are evaluated. The on-site radiologist tailors the necessary work-up to each patient. The radiologist and our breast health nurses are available for patient consultation. Breast procedures are also performed including needle localization, cyst aspiration, galactography, lymphoscintigraphy and minimally invasive breast biopsy.
